Licence and Service Terms
Praxity Studio is a local-first desktop application. Its core authoring, preview, and export functions do not require an account or subscription. These terms explain the desktop licence and govern optional services such as review sharing.
Acceptance
By downloading, installing, or using Praxity Studio, you agree to the End User Licence Agreement included with the application and the incorporated Ethical Use Policy. If you act for an organization, you confirm that you can accept those terms on its behalf.
Free personal and commercial use
Praxity Studio may be used without charge for personal, educational, non-profit, government, and commercial purposes, subject to the End User Licence Agreement and Ethical Use Policy. No paid professional-use licence is required.
The Studio source code remains proprietary. The .prax format specification, examples, and skill files have separate open licences that are not changed by the desktop licence.
Your projects and exports
You retain ownership of the projects and course exports you create, subject to third-party rights in any assets, fonts, media, software, or other materials you include. Praxity does not receive a licence to local projects merely because you use Studio.
You are responsible for your content, its accuracy and lawfulness, and having permission to use and distribute everything it contains.
Optional review sharing
If you choose Share for review, Studio uploads a review build to Praxity's review-sharing service and lets reviewers leave a name and per-page comments. Review sharing is for time-limited review, not course delivery or learner tracking.
- Only upload content you are authorized to share with the intended reviewers.
- Do not include secrets or personal information that is unnecessary for review.
- Do not use the service for malware, phishing, harassment, or unlawful content.
- Keep the review link within the audience authorized to see the content.
Review builds expire, and uploaded files are configured for deletion after no more than 60 days. The service may be suspended to protect its security or address a violation. See thePrivacy Policy for data-handling details.
Ethical use
The Ethical Use Policy prohibits specified training uses involving abusive surveillance, privacy violations, labour exploitation, severe environmental harm, weapons and unlawful military activity, violence, and coercion. It includes explicit exceptions for legitimate rights-respecting education and humanitarian work.
Voluntary support and future services
A voluntary Praxity Supporter contribution is recognition, not payment for a software licence, subscription, support entitlement, feature, deliverable, service level, or delivery date. Studio remains available on the same terms whether or not you contribute.
Future hosting, inference, or collaboration services may be paid and governed by separate service terms. Paying for those services will not change the free-use status of the desktop application.
Warranty and liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Studio and optional services are provided as is and as available, without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, or error-free operation.
The liability limits and non-waivable-rights exceptions in the End User Licence Agreement apply to Studio. Nothing in these terms excludes a right or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Changes to these terms
The current terms will be posted here. Updates may be subject to the version of the licence provided with them. Material changes to an optional service will be announced through a reasonable available channel before they take effect.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Quebec and the federal laws of Canada applicable there, except where applicable law gives you a non-waivable right to another forum.
